Milling Machine Machinist 2
Job Description:
- Sets up and operates plain or universal, horizontal, or vertical milling machines to perform machining operations such as compound angles and contours, boring compound angular holes, helical and spiral milling, serrating, and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exacting tolerances.
- Selects, mounts, and aligns various specialized machine attachments and standard or improvised tooling.
- Plans the sequence of operations, the number of cuts required, and the method of setup.
- Determines, sets, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut; interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
- It uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments, makes standard shop computations, and measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.
- May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical processes or other control procedures.
- Requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
- Exclude general, all-around machinists and operators who do not perform their own setups or determine the sequence of operations.
Top Skills/Technologies and Qualifications:
- Operate CNC milling machine, CNC lath and ability to create program’s using master cam application.
Non-Technical Skills:
- Ability to work in a team setting (such as communication, problem solving, team player, i.e.)
Ideal Candidate Background Experience:
- 3-5 years’ experience in machine shop environment.
Education:
- High school diploma
- Formal Master cam training prefer or OTJ training in related discipline such as NX, Catia or master cam.
1-year contract position
3/10 2nd shift 03:00 pm to 01:30 am 10 hour days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
