Contractor Spotlight: Chrie Mumma

Chrie Mumma is our contractor of the quarter!

She has been with Astyra for 12 years and works as a 3rd shift Network Engineer for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Chrie was born and raised in a small town in Pennsylvania and still lives there today.

She has always been interested in computers and even ran a Bulletin Board System (BBS) for several years. Her favorite part of her job is getting to know and work with kind and extremely talented people. She is proud to say that her son wants to follow in her footsteps and join the computer science field.

She hopes this year she will be able to spend some of her free time camping.

Astyra Continues To Grow In 2018!

06/2018

2018 has gotten off to a rapid start for Astyra. In addition to adding new work in our home state of Virginia, we’ve won new project engagements in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee. We’ve grown our existing accounts as well, which has resulted in the expansion of our internal staff.

As we look beyond the horizon, we are excited about our place in the market and what’s ahead.

09/2018

It has been an incredibly busy summer for Astyra Corporation. New projects won earlier this year have finally gotten underway; resulting in 65 new associates and contractors joining our ranks. The 4th quarter is shaping up to be equally as busy and we could see similar numbers added by the first of the year.

2018 Technology Update

We are thrilled to announce that Astyra’s office is revamped with new, Mac desktop computers, Cisco telephones and Cisco Meraki network switches!

The new telephones will allow us to video conference in and out of the office using Webex software. We also installed special wiring throughout the office using the new network switches to increase the productivity and speed of the equipment. Our internet is now the fastest it has ever been in Astyra history.

Our hope is to serve you quicker than ever before with this upgrade!

Executive Education

Ken at one of the CUES sessions
Our CEO, Ken Ampy, was selected to serve as Chairman of the Governance committee for the Virginia Credit Union.

At $3.6 billion in assets, VACU is the largest State-charted credit union in the Commonwealth.

To prepare for the role, this summer Ken spent a week in Toronto attending the CUES Governance Leadership Institute Program at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. Completing the program earned Mr. Ampy the designation of Certified Credit Union Director (CCD).

Congrats 2018 Grad!

Our Director of Operations, Melissa Silver, is Astyra’s most recent Leadership Metro Richmond (LMR) graduate from the Leadership Quest program.

“I am very honored to have gone through this program and have the opportunity to meet so many wonderful Richmond leaders,” Melissa said reflecting on the experience.

On this ten-month journey, a diverse group of leaders are brought together to receive formal leadership workshops and improve upon their ability to make a lasting impact in the Greater Richmond area.

The program creates an environment for encouraging bold conversations about issues facing our region and helps to broaden perspectives among the group. Part of the program includes a group immersion project that tackles a particular regional issue. Melissa’s group researched and presented on Criminal Justice.

Congratulations Melissa!
