Structural Bay Engineering Technician

Description:
- The client is looking for a Structural Bay Engineering Technician 2 to support our Structural Test Team.
Responsibilities:
- Provides technical support in the Structural Test Bay by working with fellow technicians and engineers to develop, build, test, and document testing of hardware for the Launch Vehicles Division.
- Must have a strong mechanical aptitude while having the desire to ensure the highest overall job quality.
- Must have good communication skills, both orally and written as the desired candidate will work closely with other technicians and engineers in a team environment.
- Adhere to and help enforce safety and personnel protection policy and instructions from teammates, supervisor and Environmental Health & Safety personnel.
- Must be able to respond quickly under dynamically changing scenarios.
- Provide mechanical support to assembling fixtures and test setups and may assist with the design of test setups.
- Occasional overtime (<10%) may be required
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of additional education and/or related experience
- Positive attitude – vocal contributor – team player
- Experience working with engineering drawings, schematics, work packages, data recording
- Good mechanical aptitude, problem solver.
- Ability to perform hands-on work, from small, detailed work to working with large heavy objects
- Proficient with hand tools
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Desire to balance technical, schedule, cost, and resources to meet overall company objectives
- Basic computer knowledge, working with MS Office product line
- US citizenship required
Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Costpoint, and MES
- Experience with pressurized hydraulic systems
- Forklift experience
- Crane operations and overhead lifting of large heavy objects (like structural steel)
- Soldering experience
- Instrumentation experience (installing/bonding strain gages and linear displacement transducers)
