Description:
Astyra is seeking a Backend Java Developer to support technology initiatives with our client. This individual will work in a fast-paced engineering environment supporting cloud-based applications and will have the opportunity to contribute across multiple projects based on evolving business and technology needs.
The Backend Java Developer will be a hands-on individual contributor focused on building and supporting Java-based backend services and applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring/Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and AWS, along with the adaptability to quickly learn new environments and contribute across different projects and teams.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, implement, and support Java-based backend applications and services
- Build and enhance backend solutions using Java and Spring/Spring Boot
- Design, develop, and support microservices and REST APIs
- Develop and support cloud-based applications and services within AWS
- Collaborate with engineers and technical stakeholders to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, testing, and troubleshooting
- Proactively identify and communicate technical risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement
- Adapt to changing project priorities and contribute effectively across different engineering teams and initiatives
- Remain hands-on throughout the development lifecycle and quickly ramp up on new projects and technologies
Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience
- Strong hands-on experience developing backend applications using Java
- Experience with Spring and/or Spring Boot
- Experience developing and supporting microservices
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs
- Experience developing applications within AWS
Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant hands-on Java development
- Strong experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot in enterprise application environments
- Experience designing and supporting cloud-based microservices and APIs
- Experience working within a large enterprise environment
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly, work independently, and transition effectively between projects and technical environments
