Machinist 2
*This is a 3-month contract position
*On-site – Local to Hopkinton, MA
Description
We are looking for a Machinist 2 to support our machine shop and brazing department.
Responsibilities

Silver torches braze brass flanges onto waveguide, braze copper fittings onto brass plates, and 1/2 coolant lines.

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as DPM milling machines, cold saw, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.

Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.

Determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.

Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments

Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds

Measures, marks, and scribe’s dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining.

Fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required.

Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Silver torch brazing
- Set up and operate a Southwestern DPM with ProtoTrak controls Deburring, Dagging.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience with aluminum and copper waveguide components.
- Fixturing parts for vacuum brazing.
