HVAC Mechanic 2
*This is a 9-month contract position
*Onsite – Local to Redondo Beach, CA only, please!
*9/80 – A nine-hour day Monday-Thursday to take every other Friday off.
*1st shift 9/80 (5:00 AM to 2:30 PM PST)

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the HVAC Supervisor, be responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of all equipment used in providing utilities, and environmental conditioning to buildings serviced by the Central Plant and package equipment.
  • Installs, services, modifications, rebuilds, repairs, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems and equipment in an industrial or commercial establishment in accordance with applicable building codes and safety regulations.
  • Installing, programming, testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, operating, maintaining, start-up and commissioning, repairing HVAC/building automation control systems, and related software and hardware equipment.
  • Performs periodic inspection to locate and determine cause of equipment malfunction
  • Conducts maintenance program to prevent failure of such equipment as centrifugal compressors, electrical controls, evaporative condensers, pumps, fans, and heating equipment.
  • Charges air-conditioning systems with refrigerant; checks and tests for leaks.
  • Sets and adjusts controls and regulators; fabricates, assembles, and installs ductwork and balance and air flow calibration
  • Overhauls equipment.
  • May service, modify, and maintain centralized HVAC computer systems and make program corrections.
  • May be required to install and maintain high-technology clean room environments.
     

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience related to HVAC and/or Refrigeration.
  • Completed HVAC & Refrigeration Certificate
  • Universal EPA Card.
  • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing various HVAC systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve complex HVAC issues.
  • Understanding and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
  • Communicating effectively with customers and addressing their concerns.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, both in written and spoken forms.
  • Following safety procedures and regulations when working on HVAC equipment.
  • Performing calculations related to HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrating a natural aptitude for working with mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team framework.
  • Work under stress and in emergency situations.
  • Valid non-expired Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industrial HVAC experience

Certification:

  • Universal EPA

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED
