Composite Bonder II
*On-site position – Local to El Segundo, CA, only please

Description

  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Lay out articles; cut parts or materials to size; apply liquid or solid bonding agents.
  • Understand ply orientations and vacuum bagging processes.
  • Operate autoclaves, hydraulic presses, and ovens to complete bonding cycles.
  • Control heat, pressure, and timing by setting and operating various controls according to material and bonding agent specifications.
  • Sand, burr, and smooth surfaces; apply sealing resins to cut or exposed edges.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of finished products.
  • Complete repairs on composite, metal, or laminate bonded products using inspection and rework instructions.
  • Verify the quality of finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform moderately strenuous and repetitive physical work, including lifting over 25 pounds, working with chemicals, prolonged overhead work, kneeling, bending, stooping, and carrying tools.
  • Ability to access small, confined spaces and work in enclosed environments.
  • Ability to work flexible or changing shifts, including weekends.
  • Must successfully complete and pass the ASTAR New Hire Training/Compliance within a reasonable time period as defined by the company to meet business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with high-temperature composite materials, including BMI and polyimide.
  • Experience with structural subassemblies, including bonding, co-bonding, core bonding, and vacuum bagging.

Education

  • High School diploma or GED with at least 4 years of related composite fabrication or bonding experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
