Description:
- The Front-End Web Developer (UX/UI) will support the ongoing user experience design, front-end development, and web application support needs for enterprise web applications and websites developed for NCDOT and NCDMV.
- This role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining accessible, responsive, and user-friendly web interfaces that support critical business operations and public-facing services.
- The position will collaborate with business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure consistency, accessibility, and usability across enterprise web solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Create, update, and maintain web components, user interfaces, and application prototypes.
- Develop accessible, responsive, and standards-compliant front-end solutions using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
- Build and support enterprise web applications, websites, and content management system solutions.
- Collaborate across teams to establish and maintain consistent user interface standards and design patterns.
- Implement modern front-end architecture and component-based development practices.
- Perform website accessibility testing and ensure compliance with accessibility standards and best practices.
- Optimize web applications for performance, scalability, and user experience.
- Integrate front-end solutions with enterprise platforms such as SAP, ServiceNow, SharePoint, and other business systems.
- Support AI-assisted development initiatives and workflow automation efforts.
- Conduct training sessions, demonstrations, and webinars for business users on developed applications, websites, and tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve front-end development and usability issues.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to user experience, accessibility, and front-end development standards.
Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Strong proficiency in modern front-end web development technologies.
- Experience building responsive and accessible web applications.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI design principles and user-centered design practices.
- Experience developing reusable component libraries and design systems.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and compliance requirements.
- Experience integrating front-end applications with enterprise platforms and services.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience delivering user training and technical support.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Experience with Vite and modern front-end build tooling.
- Experience designing and maintaining enterprise design systems and component libraries.
- Experience working within government, transportation, or large enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with content management systems and enterprise web platforms.
- Experience supporting workflow automation initiatives and AI-assisted development tools.
- Knowledge of modern DevOps and front-end deployment practices.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience with JavaScript and TypeScript development.
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing semantic HTML and accessibility-focused web solutions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience using modern CSS, including Flexbox, Grid, CSS variables, and theming techniques.
- Minimum 4 years of experience with state management using signals, reactive stores, or similar technologies.
- Minimum 4 years of experience integrating applications with enterprise systems such as SAP, ServiceNow, SharePoint, or similar platforms.
- Minimum 4 years of experience performing website accessibility testing and remediation.
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing applications using Vue.js.
- Minimum 3 years of experience implementing web performance optimization techniques.
- Minimum 3 years of experience applying accessibility standards, including WCAG 2.2 or higher.
- Minimum 3 years of experience supporting user experience design initiatives.
- Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and workflow automation solutions.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Web Development, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
- Certifications related to front-end development, accessibility, UX/UI design, or web technologies are preferred.
- Accessibility certifications or training related to WCAG standards are a plus.
