Structural Engineer
*This is an onsite position – Local to Surry, VA only please
*Travel is required 50% of the time
Description:
- Candidate will be responsible for developing and reviewing Design Changes calculations and technical evaluations in support of large capital projects as part of Surry Power Stations Subsequent License Renewal.
- Candidate will work extensively with Engineers of Choice and manufacturers to ensure designs satisfy technical specifications and station design/license basis.
Projects include but are not limited to:
- 96 circulating water intake piping replacement 4160V Cable Replacement Fuel Handling Cranes Replacement Containment cooling coil replacement and R22 Elimination
Certifications:
- Professional Engineer License
- Has held qualifications at a nuclear power station in the last 3 years – including Design Change Calculations and 50.59 applicability/screen
Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- Strong analytical capability in steel and concrete design
- Proficient in the nuclear Standard Design Process and license/design basis assessment per 10CFR50.59
- Construction and implementation experience
Soft Skills:
- Able to apply practical solutions to field problems
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written internally to the team and with external vendors
- Ability to lead collaborate and work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
Nice to Have Skills:
- GTStrudl
- MathCAD
Preferred Years of Experience:
- 8 Years
Education:
- B.S. in Civil Structural or Engineering Mechanics
